|Seeking an IP Attorney in Spain
||[Oct. 11th, 2009|06:07 am]
I'm seeking an attorney in Spain to help take action against nenablue.com for breach, nonpayment, and theft over the last two years. |
They have used my work to generate income and for promo galleries for the past two years - they owe us thousands of dollars for sets and use of my work. I've tried for two years to resolve this diplomatically - photographers and models beware of this site and the people that run it.
I'm going to Spain in December for a prohject and I'd like to meet with an attorney while there. I'm hoping to find someone that will take this on contingency I think it's a pretty cut and dry case.
please email lithiumpicnic at gmail if you have any leads - thank you!
Injustice disgusts me. I hope you get what is rightfully yours. Good luck!
Best of luck on this one! :/
I had a sort of similar prob with Imago Zine in Canada. It makes you not want to do business with people outside of the US because of all the legal hassles if they do screw you over.Let me know if anybody responds to your request and if not I'll pass your info along on myspace, somebody on my list there should maybe know somebody in Spain that can help you.
I'd love to hear the Imago story. I live in Toronto and it seems that the hassles with that mag never end, it includes people who live in this city too. Sucks that you had to deal with that. =/
I too would like to hear the story with them, they want to work with me and now this makes me super unsure.
Morgana/ Iberian Dark Arts would be a good person to ask as she is a fellow photographer from Spain.
Although I know she has also done work for Nena Blue and not sure where she stands with them?http://www.threnodyinvelvet.com/
I work in a courthouse in Madrid. Let me see if I can find someone. Got a good friend who's a very good lawyer, but I'm not sure his buffet will let him take your case.
If you pass by Madrid in your visit and have a night let me fill that up with food and drinks ;)
Good luck in the search. I can't help with Spain but one suggestion. Because of the extensive holiday traffic back and forth between the UK and Spain, you may find a barister in London who works both sides of the Channel.

online directory I would recommend
I'm a legal libarian, and the main service for finding Lawyers/law firms around the world is the Lexis Martindale Hubbel service, which you can access for free online.
It lists all data on lawyers/law firms by country, and you will be able to even pick the Spanish city close to the offending company. It will tell you the specialty area of the firm (ie if they are specialists in copyright, or possibly contract law). It will also tell you how big they are, which will relate to costs, and impact! :-).
If one firm is no good, they may pass you onto someone who is more suitable.
Alternatively, you can find out what the professional association for lawyers is in Spain, and contact them and ask if they could recommend someone, or if they have a directory.http://www.martindale.com/
